Crossing Arts Alliance Workshops
Glass On Glass Mosaic Workshop
Saturday, February 16 & 23 | 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Wednesday, February 27 | 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Who doesn’t like stained glass? This class is similar to regular mosaics, except you are using colored glass, and requires 2 sessions. In the first session, you will create a design to follow, learn how to score and cut glass, and glue the glass to your base. In the second session, you will learn how to grout and finish the art. Both sessions must be attended for success. As the glue under the stained glass must be completely dry before grouting, the second session may be up to a week after the first session. Pam Collins will be the instructor for this class. The price for this workshop is $90 for TCAA members, $100 for non-members. Class size is limited to 8 people. Pre-payment of class fees is required. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before class will not be eligible for a refund. You must call TCAA to enroll to ensure your place in this class, at 218-833-0416.
You Crack Me Up Mosaic Workshop
Saturday, March 30 | 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Sunday, March 31 | 1:00 - 4:00 pm
Breaking old dishes, cups, platters and more is empowering. Maybe you have only one plate left of your grandmother’s and you hate to throw it away. Bring it to class and discover how to incorporate it into a work of art! This art form is very satisfying and rewarding. You will learn how to design a wall hanging or mirror, a house number, or even a table top. Mosaic classes require 2 sessions. The first session is design and glueing. The second session is for grouting and finishing. All supplies are provided. Both sessions must be attended for success. Pam Collins will be the instructor for this class. The price is $75 for TCAA members, $85 for non-members. Class size is min of 5 and max of 10. Pre-payment of class fees is required. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before class will not be eligible for a refund. You must call TCAA to enroll to ensure your place in this class, at 218-833-0416.
Fabric Is Paint Workshop
Saturday, May 4 | 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Let’s make some trees and mountains from Aunt Ida’s Drapes! Join Pam Collins for this fun and creative class and create your own masterpiece by learning to use fabric and notions in a unique way. Learn how to cut or tear fabric and glue it onto a canvas to create a landscape or seascape. Pam will walk you through the whole process. You will discover how to use gauze to make clouds, corduroy to form rocks and delicate lace to make sea foam. Taffeta can be transformed into water or skies. It is a simple process of using scissors and glue, but the challenge is making a textile transform into a three-dimensional looking piece of art. Good imaginations are needed, and/or a willingness to explore. Anyone can learn this. No experience is needed. You will never see fabric the same way again. You will work on an 11 x 14 canvas and all materials will be supplied. You will leave with a finished piece of art! You only need to bring a scissors for cutting fabric. The price is $75 for members, $80 for non-members. Class size is min of 5 and max of 10. Pre-payment of class fees is required. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before class will not be eligible for a refund. You must call TCAA to enroll to ensure your place in this class, at 218-833-0416.

Black And White Exhibition - Deadline For Submission, December 26, 2018
To work only in black and white is a challenge for the artist. It forces them to showcase their skills in form, texture, contrast, light, and shape, in a monochromatic fashion. Only black, white, and shades of grey can be used to express their vision. We are seeking works that exemplify the visual power of this limited palette, and that offer new and unique views. All mediums will be considered, including, but not limited to painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, fiber, and sculpture.
Visiting Artist Opportunity - are you an artist, or do you know an artist that would like to sell their work, do a demo, teach a workshop, or display their work during our second saturday events? We've hosted journal-makers, culinary artists, photographers and more and enjoyed all they had to offer. Contact TCAA for details.
Workshops - have the desire to share your skills? Contact Lisa about setting up a workshop at firstname.lastname@example.org
Please visit www.crossingarts.org or call 218.833.0416 for more information on TCAA events.
