Canoe Trip

My paintings are inspired by my nature and the outdoor adventures I take with my family in northern Minnesota. Most of my paintings are influenced by pictures we take while spending time on the lake or exploring the wilderness. Besides being an artist, I am also a K-12 Art teacher at a small rural school. I am a member of the Leech Lake Art League. I'm happy to call northern Minnesota my home along with my husband, two daughters, and dog

Bear Paw Paperworks started as a business about 50 years ago.  Linda and I have been creating and doing art shows since then. Northern Minnesota has been, and continues to be, an inspiration for our body of work. Using wool, fiber, handmade paper, sticks, stones, metal, sea glass & beads, the dyed, needle-felted wool is layered into nature inspired 2D textured art wall hangings.

The Wonder of it all

Mark Swenson, an accomplished Northern Minnesota artist, believes it is important for a wildlife artist to live in close proximity to his subject matter. Mark's paintings and woodworking reflect his profound connection and appreciation of nature and wildlife.

Mark studied commercial and fine art at Bemidji State University. He won the Minnesota Lake Trout Stamp in 1994. His lifelong passion for the outdoors and incredible eye for detail enables him to uniquely capture his subject matter, a mood or an experience on canvas.

Mark's paintings and woodwork hang in private collections across the country.

"I've been influenced by the Impressionists and their use of brush stroke to create warmth and movement. I like C.M. Russell for his rawness and colors of his landscapes, as well as Robert Bateman for the way he presents the whole picture of a bird or mammal in its natural habitat."

"It enables me to see and experience the subtle nuances of nature. Watching a storm move across a lake can be a real stimulus. I particularly enjoy hunting for waterfowl, upland birds and fishing the north shore of Lake Superior."

Featuring - Becky Steinhoff - Mystical Diva Jewelry

In her childhood, Becky Steinhoff used to go to garage sales and buy old jewelry, take it apart, and redo it. Even though she still repurposes old pieces, her main focus now is working with semiprecious gemstones and creating nature-inspired pieces. Because she uses dragonflies and other creatures of nature as focal points, her company is called Mystical Deva. The word deva means spirit of nature. As a child, she believed dragonflies were created when fairies and dragons merged, hence their "mystical" nature.

A Little About Jen

Jen is lucky enough to work for a great company that has helped me rediscover my passion for art. I recently started my artistic journey, first with acrylic brush paintings, and then a friend suggested I try paint pouring. I have fallen in love with it, and I hope that others love my work as much as I love creating it! I am able to do custom requests - Let’s talk about size and color details, and we will make it happen!

With more than 40 years experience working in glass, I've both developed and refined many distinctive attributes of the artistic medium, within many recognizable styles: Victorian to Art Deco, Mission, and Contemporary. My kiln-formed glass 'tiles' are often used in glass panels.

Nature: Love. Respect. Protect. "We want to help people enjoy, respect and protect the beauty of the woods, water and wildlife all around us," says Becky and Bob Seemann of Artwoods.

"This inspires us to create our nature-oriented silver jewelry and rustic furniture and accessories to share with other lake folks. There are endless ideas for creativity in the forests and lakes -   leaves, trees, unique stones, and animals. Our name Artwoods simply means that we make art in the woods of northern Minnesota. We give 10 percent of net profits to support environmental organizations and want to help people understand that it's up to all of us to preserve it for future generations."

About Josephine Cora

I am a contemporary wood-burning and watercolor artist living in Owatonna, Minnesota with my husband and two children. My studio is based in our home, and I create during naptime and in the evenings. I am passionate about landscapes and nature in general. It brings me so much joy when I can create something that has a personal connection to others. In my paintings, I aim to capture and appreciate the world around us to remind the viewer to live for these moments of peace and gratitude.

The Artwork

I fell in love with the texture and visual interest wood grain creates when it is combined with wood burning and watercolor. Each wood panel is selected with the inspiration image in mind so darker grain and knots can flow into the painting intentionally and amplify the beauty found in the landscape. I use a variety of wood burning techniques and tools to bring out the dimensions of the space while adding layers of watercolor and gouache to bring the elements to life. Each painting is sealed with a clear varnish to preserve the pigments of the paint and the depth of the wood-burning. The balance these mediums bring to the landscape is cohesive and brings a sense of peace and gratitude when viewing. My artwork can be found online or in-person at art shows across the state of Minnesota.

Nugent Yard Art

I create copper and brass wind sculptures that move in the slightest breeze. I cut, shape, and solder all of my work in my studio. All of my sculptures have bearings in them, so they last and move in the breeze for years. They are meant to be outside year round and be able to handle the elements. The hanging sculptures have stainless eye hooks and caps that protect the bearings from the elements and the in ground sculptures are on sturdy steel posts that go into the ground. After fabrication, each one gets a heat patina. All sculptures are individually made and signed.

Featuring Artist - Kerri Norman

My jewelry is hand-fabricated metal smithing using mixed metals, gems, stones and pearls. I do not cast or use metal clays. Inspiration most often comes from naturally occurring phenomena, flora and fauna. Figs, gardens, storms, jellyfish and sundew plants are a few of the series I have been developing. Presently, I am working on two new series based on hollow form construction and homes. The look of my jewelry is contemporary and delicate, tipping into the mechanistic & industrial while retaining easy wearability.

Featuring Artist - Barry Nelson

Barry wanted something that looked unique compared to other designs he had seen. These are functional homes for birds and where ever they will be placed, either yard, garden, or your home, they will certainly add interest. These birdhouses embellished with sticks and driftwood are made from Barnwood and ceiling tins that are 100 years old.
