Greetings from Vicki at the Five Wings Arts Council!
I haven’t had a chance to meet you yet, but wanted to introduce myself, as I begin work on the 2nd Annual “Poetry On and Off the Wall” project. I was hired in December to fill the position previously held by Nancy Leasman. Nancy left quite a legacy in her short time here, and now it’s my job to ensure that the good work you and Nancy did together continues.
To that end, I’m writing to let you know that during the months of March and April, the Middle Ground Gallery of the Five Wings Arts Council will once again exhibit poems written by poets living in Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena counties.
We invite you to submit three poems which will be included in the gallery exhibition, in a new book of the original poetry in the show, and on the FWAC website gallery.
Poets will also be invited to read their work at a celebration of National Poetry month, to be held in the gallery on Saturday, April 28th, from 1:00-3:00pm.
Short poems, on 8 ˝ x 11 page layout, may be submitted by e-mail to vicki.fwac@arvig.net, or mailed to FWAC, PO Box 118, Staples, MN 56479. Please also send a photo and short bio of yourself to be used in the display and book.
If you have any questions, please give me a call at 701-200-1375 or email me at vicki.fwac@arvig.net I look forward to receiving your work, and am eager to meet you in the coming weeks.
Please submit your poems by February 24th
Have you ever thought about writing a radio theatre drama?
Since its beginnings, Lakes Area Theatre (LAT) has had a call out for script submissions. Lakes Area Theatre produces a weekly radio theater show which is currently heard in the Alexandria, MN and Marshall, MN areas. The shows represent all genres. They are produced from a combination of old time radio scripts and scripts written by contemporary playwrights from throughout the United States. You can learn more about submitting a script on the LAT website at www.lakesareatheatre.com/getinvolved. You can also learn more about what a quality radio theatre manuscript submission is by reading Ann Hermes, blog "Writing a Manuscript for Radio Theatre" at

Poet Athena Kildegaard writes:
I had a lucky childhood: I grew up in a house rich with language. My parents were both readers, and they loved to read aloud. At evening meals someone would hold us all silent by reading a poem or a provocative paragraph. And I do not exaggerate when I say that there were books in every room of the house—not just on shelves but in stacks beside easy chairs and on coffee tables. And many writers came to our house to be feted, to share their new work and the ideas that were cooking in their heads, and to find sustenance for body and soul.
One of these, Bill Holm, was a regular.
